Coach started as a family business over five decades ago. Six leather artisans began their own collection from their Manhattan apartment. This collection was made up of high quality leather bags and other accessories. The technique that they used was a skill that had been passed down from generation to generation. The inspiration for the first Coach bag really came from an American baseball glove. The founder of Coach notices the intricate markings that was used to make the glove and the texture of the worn leather. He loved it so much that he applied this design to his own bags. He managed to make it stronger and softer though.
